For nearly a millennium. While not immortal, the lifespan of elves far outstrips the lesser races. Graceful and dexterous, the elves represent the highest expression of terrible beauty in combat. Silvas has survived two previous great wars as ruler of the elven lands, and another serving as a blade dancer in his predecessor’s retinue.
Over fifteen centuries of study of strategy, tactics, and disciplined training has permeated his approach to rule within elven society. Once a culture devoted to nature and beauty, the previous great wars have honed elven society into a perfectly sharpened dagger. Every elf is taught from a young age how to unerringly fire a bow and maintain perfect form, wielding a spear and sword as part of their standard education. The blade dancers, however, are the pinnacle of the elvish practice of war. None of the beauty of elven society has faded, though it has changed under the guidance of Silvas.

Decorated an elf’s home, now wondrously wrought arms and armor of silvery mithril have been added. Silvas is a shrewd diplomat and maintains alliances with all the races of light, though tensions with the dwarves are ever-present.
He is of the opinion that both races possess overly long memories of past mistakes. He is solely responsible for authoring the eerily beautiful battlesong that the elvish army sings in unity when battle is joined. High King Silvas employs ranged and magical troops to stunning effect.
Though he places emphasis on ranged combat first, the elvish armies are perfectly balanced in all things. Silvas once, when pressed, said the greatest compliment ever paid to him was by the dwarven king Hrogar.
When Hrogar heard the battlesong of the elves, he said to Silvas in an awed voice, “Never before have I wished to weep, both from overwhelming beauty and from terror in equal measure, as I have wept upon hearing the joy with which your armies sing in battle.”
